Supporting the Canada UK Colloquium on ‘Ageing Well’

The Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Charitable Foundation was delighted to be a co-sponsor of the recent annual Canada UK Colloquium (CUKC) which focused on the theme of ‘Ageing Well’.

The Canada-UK Colloquium is an annual forum aimed at facilitating in-depth discussion of critical and timely public policy issues for both countries. It celebrated its 48th Anniversary in 2019.

Held at the Møller Centre within the grounds of Churchill College, Cambridge, the Colloquium brought together leading academics, government officials and a range of expert delegates from Canada and the UK for three days of discussions focused on the impact of demographic shifts towards longer lives – whether economic, social, or health related.

Anthony Cary, CUKC Chair said, ‘The Canada-UK Colloquia have focused on many topical issues of public policy over the decades, but none more urgent and important, perhaps, than the question of how we respond to the shift towards longer, healthier lives and larger populations of older people.

‘The trends are similar in both countries, and I have no doubt that there is much we can learn from one another about how best to respond.

Commenting Victor Dahdaleh said, ‘We were delighted to co-sponsor the recent CUKC focused on ‘Ageing Well’.

‘The Colloquium brought together three of the key strands – global healthcare, education and relationships between Canada and the UK – which are at the heart of the giving philosophy of the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Charitable Foundation.

‘It was a pleasure to be supporting three days of fascinating debate and genuine collaboration around the major global challenges of ageing well.’

A final report from the recent Canada UK Colloquium with a formal policy recommendation is to be delivered in Spring 2020.
