Victor Dahdaleh Foundation supports England Squash Foundation schools programmes into third academic year

The Victor Dahdaleh Foundation has donated a further £15,000 to the England Squash Foundation (ESF) to support a Squash & Education project, continuing its support into a third academic year.

The programme is currently centred on providing pupils from the Anglo-European School Ingatestone (AES) with a range of squash coaching as well as additional instruction in physical education, a homework club, visits by guest speakers (such as sportsmen and women, nutritionists, businessmen and women).

The vast majority of pupils from AES have never played squash, and in many cases have never played a racket sport at all. Pupils come from across Essex and East London including Islington, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge.

The programme is hosted at Brentwood School in Essex, a leading independent school.

Pupils are divided into two groups of up to 16, one group receiving weekly squash coaching for up to an hour, whilst the other group receives an hour of the additional programming highlighted above.

Court time is provided free of charge by Brentwood School and the costs of the coaching, equipment, coach transfer from AES to Brentwood School is funded by the ESF.

The ESF aims to ensure that every penny it commits through education and the sport of squash, positively impacts the children it supports, helping to inspire them to achieve great things.  It is now planning to extend the programme to other schools in England and further extend its coaching provision in South London and West London communities.

Mark Hill, Chair, English Squash Foundation said, ‘The support from the Victor Dahdaleh Foundation is fundamental to allowing us to build on this innovative programme. We know that it provides a great way for children to learn a new sport and helps them to be inspired to do great things in their lives, benefitting from the wider programme of activity.’
