Victor Dahdaleh Foundation continues to support public understanding of global issues at the Global Progress Summit 2018

The Victor Dahdaleh Foundation and the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research (located at York University in Toronto) were core sponsors of the Global Progress 2018 Summit.

It was hosted by Canada 2020 from September 21 to 23 at the Ritz Carlton in Montreal, Canada, gathering together progressive think-tanks, initiatives, institutions, movements and leaders from over 20 countries.

The Global Progress 2018 Summit focused on a broad spectrum of globally significant topics ranging from youth engagement and economic revitalization to the social and economic challenges and opportunities of the digital age.

The penultimate session on Climate Change and Global Health included a key note presentation by Dr James Orbinski, Director, Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research.

Mr Victor Dahdaleh said:  ‘The support of the Foundation and the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research at the Global Progress 2018 Summit reflects our continuing commitment to learning and engagement in public discourse and the importance of real partnership in meeting the significant worldwide challenges of the 21st Century.’

Dr James Orbinski said: ‘It was a pleasure to be involved in the Global Progress 2018 Summit and very powerful to listen to a range of speakers grappling with the major issues of our time for progressive democracies. The quality of the presentations, panels and discussions were outstanding – if not unparalleled in my experience.’

A discussion with Rt Hon Justin Trudeau, Prime Minster of Canada and Rt Hon Pedro Sanchez, Prime Minister of Spain, closed this year’s Global Progress Summit.
