Continued support for the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce at AGM Lunch
Delighted to welcome the Premier of Nova Scotia, Tim Houston as guest speaker
Victor Phillip Dahdaleh has been delighted to continue his long-standing support for Canada UK relations this week, having invited the Premier of Nova Scotia, Tim Houston as guest speaker at the Canada UK Chamber of Commerce’s AGM luncheon at the House of Lords.
The AGM lunch is a key fixture in the Chamber’s annual programme of activity, made possible over recent years with the kind support of Lord Gordon Wasserman. Over 100 members and guests enjoyed a wonderful lunch on a beautiful, sunny day, with Wayne Lee, new Chamber President, presiding over his first AGM and Luncheon.
Victor Dahdaleh said, ‘I have been fortunate enough to have known Tim Houston for a number of years now and was really delighted that he, his wife Carol, and some key members of his team could make time in his very busy schedule to come to us as this prestigious Chamber event. It was great to hear Tim talk about the opportunities for ever closer Canadian and UK relations but also the exciting possibilities to grow economic and investment relationships with Nova Scotia whether in energy, minerals or its world class food products.
‘I am very grateful to Tim for being our keynote speaker and providing his insights, following on from previous keynotes that have accepted my invitations such as John McCall MacBain, Chancellor of McGill University, former Prime Ministers Bryan Mulroney, Stephen Harper, and Frank Mckenna, former Premier of New Brunswick and former Canadian Ambassador to the US.
‘It was great to see so many Chamber Directors, Past Presidents, members, guests and friends of the Chamber enjoy the event including Canada’s High Commissioner, His Excellency Ralph Goodale, Lord Wasserman, Lord Tony Giddins, representatives from many provinces and so many businesses with Canadian and British interests.
‘On a personal note, I would like to thank the senior members of the University of Cambridge, Imperial College, York University in Toronto, McGill University, and St Francis Xavier University all who partner with my Foundation – who were with us both at the Chamber lunch and a small drinks reception for Tim and his team, the previous evening.
‘A big thank you as always to Nigel Bacon and the team at the Chamber for organising such a wonderful event. And arranging the sunshine!’
With the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce now in 104th year of continuous operation, Victor has been an important driving force in the Chamber’s success over many years. A proud Canadian, he was a Past President of the Chamber, reinvigorating it and setting the strong foundations that it enjoys today, with over 300 corporate members and undertaking around 50 networking events throughout the year.
